“…It is, however, noteworthy that the ferrocenyl moiety containing analogues of the NHCs has received less attention, with the exception of the work by Snegur et al [8] with a series of N-heterocyclic groups linked to ferrocenyl compounds such as ferrocenylmethylbenzimidazole which were found to exhibit anticancer activity. The importance of related compounds is again highlighted by Howarth and Hanlon [9] through the synthesis of N-ferrocenylmethyl-N 0 -methyl-2-substituted benzimidazolium iodide salts which are active against the malaria parasite, P. falciparum. Later, Bildstein [10] highlighted the stereoelectronic influence of the ferrocenyl group on carbenes in terms of steric protection, electron-donation and reversible redox chemistry that makes them interesting compounds for a variety of applications.…”

“…45 The authors noted that malaria increases the oxidative stress in red blood cells. In response to this situation, various physiological processes in the infected host are stepped up, in particular those that supply substrates for reduction which would react with the reactive oxygen species generated by the parasite's presence in the body.…”

“…Moreover, isoxazolines are versatile intermediates for the synthesis of bifunctional and naturally occurring compounds and also display important biological activities such as antibacterial , antitubercular , phosphodiesterase inhibitory , anti‐inflammatory , and immunostimulatory , whereas compounds incorporating the pyrazole substructure have stimulated much interest in medicinal and biological chemistries. Meanwhile, functionalized macrocycles are frequently seen in pharmaceutics and natural products , in addition to being important as pharmaceuticals.…”
