Novel Imaging Materials:  Synthesis and Characterization of Poly[N,N-dimethyl-N-(p-benzoylbenzyl)-N-(2-methacryloylethyl)ammonium triphenylbutylborate] as a Single-Component Photoimaging System

Abstract: New polymeric materials based on N,N,N-trialkyl-N-(p-benzoylbenzyl)ammonium triphenylbutylborate have been synthesized and characterized. Model compounds provide spectroscopic evidence that these polymers are capable of forming free tertiary amines upon irradiation at 365 nm. Photochemical generation of base is much enhanced when triphenylbutylborate is used as the electron donor. Using this concept, the synthesized polymers have been utilized for imaging in a single-component system. Positive-tone images can … Show more

“…This is not surprising as the polymer is highly crystalline due to its ionic nature. [10] Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) measurements indicated that the polymer is thermally stable until 240 C in both oxygen and nitrogen atmosphere.…”
