In this study, a series of novel pyrazole-hydrazone derivatives containing an isoxazole moiety were synthesized. Antiviral bioassays indicated that some of the title compounds exhibited better in vivo antiviral activities against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). In particular, compounds 6a, 6c and 6q exhibited the best curative activity, protection activity, and inactivation activity against TMV, respectively, which were superior to those of Ningnanmycin. This study demonstrated that this series of novel pyrazole-hydrazone derivatives containing an isoxazole amide moiety could effectively control TMV.

In the present investigation, a series of bicyclic [2-(2,4-dimethylphenylthio)phenyl] aniline analogues were synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR (1 H and 13 C) and mass spectra. All newly synthesized 15 compounds were inspected for their in vitro antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) H 37 Ra in both active and dormant state using an established XTT Reduction Menadione assay (XRMA). The titled compounds exhibited minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC90) ranging from 0.05 to >30 (μg/mL). The potent four compounds were further evaluated in THP-1 infection model where they demonstrated significant antitubercular activity. All the ex vivo active were further evaluated for cytotoxic activity against THP-1, MCK-7 and HeLa cell lines in order to check selectivity index. All compounds were further screened against four different bacteria to assess their selectivity towards MTB. These derivatives could be considered as a precursor structure for further design of antituberculosis agent.

A series of new hydrazone derivatives were synthesized using dicyclopropyl ketone as starting material. Unexpected reaction of salicylaldehyde with (dicyclopropylmethylene)hydrazine yielded the appropriate bis(salicylaldehyde azine). Treatment of the (dicyclopropylmethylene)hydrazine with the appropriate coupling agents gave the corresponding imides, imidazolones, oxazolones, quinazolinones and triazoles, respectively. The synthesized compounds were characterized using IR, 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR and mass spectral data. These newly formed products were tested for their antibacterial and antifungal activities and most of the compounds showed high activity compared with Ciprofloxacin as positive controls. In addition, the compounds were also, examined for their anticancer activities against breast cancer cell line (MCF7) compared with cisplatin as a positive control. The novel synthesized compounds showed satisfactory activity against (MCF7) with mean IC50 values ranging from 21.5 to 100 μM.
