Summary The paper developed a new topology for the single‐phase asymmetrical cascaded multilevel inverter and realized with optimal hardware components. This solution aids to substantially reducing the number of semiconductor switches and DC sources, henceforth reduces the gate drivers requirement. The proposed multilevel inverter creates a waveform with a high number of staircase voltage levels compromising with low total harmonic distortion at the outputs. The configuration is asymmetric and generates thirty‐one level different output voltages. MATLAB/Simulink numerical software used to verify the modeling and validated experimentally in laboratory scale prototype. The testing of the inverter executed under both steady state and dynamic load changing conditions. A set of numerical and experimental results are provided and shown clear evidence of satisfying the expectation with theoretical development. The proposed converter is well suitable for renewable energy applications. A 9-level inverter with a boost converter has been controlled with a fuzzy logic controller and a PID controller for regulating output voltage applications on resistive (R) and inductive (L), capacitance (C). The mathematical model of this system is created according to the fuzzy logic controlling new high multilevel inverter with a boost converter. The DC-DC boost converter and the multi-level inverter are designed and explained, when creating a mathematical model after a linear pulse width modulation (LPWM), it is preferred to operate the boost multi-level inverter. The fuzzy logic control and the PID control are used to manage the LPWM that allows the switches to operate. The fuzzy logic algorithm is presented by giving necessary mathematical equations that have second-degree differential equations for the fuzzy logic controller. After that, the fuzzy logic controller is set up in the 9-level inverter. The proposed model runs on different membership positions of the triangles at the fuzzy logic controller after testing the PID controller. After the output voltage of the converter, the output voltage of the inverter and the output current of the inverter are observed at the MATLAB SIMULINK, the obtained results are analysed and compared. The results show the demanded performance of the inverter and approve the contribution of the fuzzy logic control on multi-level inverter circuits.

Abstract:In this study, the quality of the transformed energy form is analysed after comparing the single-phase induction motor operated by the SPWM inverter to the 15-level LPWM inverter. Firstly, multilevel inverter and pulse width modulation are designed. The multi-level inverter has sixteen IGBT switches because inverter circuit is constructed with high multilevel inverter topology. Linear pulse width modulation (LPWM) is designed for operation of sixteen switches in the inverter circuit. Secondly, equations of the induction motor are calculated according to d-q axis with creating 15-level alternating voltage. After described equations, 15-level inverter running single phase induction motor is formed at the Matlab Simulink. The obtained results are analyzed according to motor performance and harmonic distortion of the created alternating energy after the proposed model is simulated. Finally, Simulation results of the proposed system are compared with simulation results of SPWM inverter controlling the single-phase induction motor.
