Novel Heuristic Optimization Technique to Solve Economic Load Dispatch and Economic Emission Load Dispatch Problems

Abstract: The fundamental objective of economic load dispatch is to operate the available generating units such that the needed load demand satisfies the lowest generation cost and also complies with the various constraints. With proper power system operation planning using optimized generation limits, it is possible to reduce the cost of power generation. To fulfill the needs of such objectives, proper planning and economic load dispatch can help to plan the operation of the electrical power system. To optimize the eco… Show more

“…Economic load dispatch (ELD) is a crucial optimization problem in power systems that aims to allocate the optimal power generation among multiple generating units to meet the electricity demand at minimum cost while satisfying various operational constraints [2]. The objective of ELD is to determine the optimal power output for each generator, taking into account factors such as fuel cost, transmission losses, and system constraints.…”

“…Unfortunately, many of these investigations continue to rely on, modify, or integrate traditional metaheuristics to form hybrid methods. Examples include simulated annealing (SA) [2], modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) [3], modified directional bat algorithm (DBA) [4], teaching learning-based optimization (TLBO) [5], particle swarm optimization (PSO) [6], slime mold algorithm (SMO) [7], chaotic social group optimization (CSGO) [8], multi-verse optimization (MVO) [9], and others.…”

“…The goal of economic load dispatch (ELD) in power systems is to allocate power output from producing units as efficiently as possible while satisfying operational requirements, preserving supply-demand balance [1], and determining the best way to lower the power generation cost and minimize emissions so that the problem of global warming is also reduced. Coal is few, while demand for electrical power is rising [2]. It is significant to observe that the valve-point effects provide a wavy pattern on the fuel consumption curve.…”
