Novel Ferulic Amide Ac6c Derivatives: Design, Synthesis, and Their Antipest Activity

Abstract: Thirty-eight novel ferulic amide 1-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid (Ac6c) derivatives D1−D19 and E1−E19 were designed and synthesized, and their antibacterial, antifungal, and insecticidal activities were tested. Most of the synthesized compounds displayed excellent activity againstXanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), with EC 50 values ranging from 11.6 to 83.1 μg/ mL better than that of commercial bismerthiazol (BMT, EC 50 = 84.3 μg/mL), as well as much better performance compared to that of thiediazole copp… Show more

“…Compared with commercially available compounds, some ferulic amides displayed excellent antibacterial activities. 29,30 In our published work, 31 we found that some ferulic amide Ac6c derivatives showed excellent antipest activity. Encouraged by this, we envisage changing cyclohexane to cyclopentane to expand our research and develop new lead compounds, which have high levels of biological activity.…”

“…Natural products (NPs) not only possess diverse structures and pharmacological properties but also have unique effects, easy degradation, or good compatibility with the environment. They have been used by humans as dyes, food additives, drugs, and pesticides for thousands of years. In recent years, the development of NP-based pesticides has become a hot topic. Osthole ( 1 , Figure ) is a naturally occurring coumarin compound found mainly in Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) and Brassicaceae plants . It is highly abundant in the ripe fruit of Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson, which is commonly used as a traditional Chinese medicine .…”
