Novel DiR and SPIO nanoparticles embedded PEG-PLGA nanobubbles as a multimodalimaging contrast agent

Abstract: Abstract. Fluorescence dye DiR and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) embedded in PEG-PLGA nanobubbles (DiR-SPIO-NBs) were produced using double emulsion method on a membrane of Shirasu porous glass (SPG). The nanobubbles encapsulated with DiR and SPIONs had a liquid core (perfluoropentane) and a PEG-PLGA shell. DiR-SPIO-NBs showed biocompatibility based on MTT cytotoxicity and hemolysis studies. The PFP encapsulated in the nanobubbles experienced phase transition under ultrasonic irradation. … Show more

“…These properties have offered new prospects for novel magnetic nanoparticles that can improve treatment and diagnosis in a unique multifunctional system. 10 In this paper, we demonstrate that DiR-SPION conjugated to anti-ST2 blocking antibodies (anti-ST2 NPs) efficiently suppressed the development of asthma by block the function of ILC2s.…”

“…142,158,159 Both Luo et al and Li et al reported the development of ultrasound-, magnetic-, and fluorescence-responsive NBs for multimodal imaging. The NBs were coated with PLGA to which a fluorescence dye and the magneticresponsive materials, such as SPIONs, were directly conjugated; or alternatively these compounds can be encapsulated in the NBs.…”
