Novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak: A comprehensive review of the current literature

Abstract: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic caused by the novel corona virus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The spread of the virus was rapid and currently COVID-19 cases are present worldwide in 213 countries, area or territories. Researchers worldwide are working and sharing their contribution regarding epidemiology, prevention, treatment, clinical and diagnostic patterns of the COVID-19. Current review is another contribution to the current knowledge, presenting the dat… Show more

“…A month after the first COVID-19 announcement, the WHO declared the disease outbreak as a global pandemic ( Ullah et al, 2020 ). The SARS-CoV-2 virus has caused threats to public health and resulted in a global travel shutdown all over the world, causing deaths that reached 2,271,180 and confirmed cases 104,370,550 (WHO 6-2–2021) ( Liu et al, 2020a ).…”

“…Vaccines remain our first line of worldwide virus eradication, and they are limited by storage life and global availability. Hence, governments have applied drastic measures in their countries and required infected persons to be isolated at home, with only severe cases being hospitalized ( Kumar and Khodor, 2020 ; McAleer 2020 ; Ullah et al, 2020 ; Vellingiri et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the prevention of COVID-19 transmission by maintain social distancing (at least 1 m) from any person by avoiding close contacts, hand hygiene (wash with soap or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers), and wearing PPE ( 15 , 16 ). “…The genres are named; Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta Coronaviruses [14]. Several human Coronaviruses (alpha-CoVs, HCoVs-NL63, beta-CoVs, HCoVs-OC43, HCoVs-229E, HCoVs-HKU1, MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV and ARDS have been identified [15]. New versions of the Coronavirus will appear due to the large genomic potential, rapid mutation capabilities, high prevalence and wide distribution within the bird and animal kingdom.…”

N sions of the Coronavirus will appear due to the large genomic potential, rapid m capabilities, high prevalence and wide distribution within the bird and animal k The emergence of CoVs is due to birds being able to carry this viral form and tr from area to area through flying and being capable of inhabiting in between [16,17].…”
