Novel Cationic Poly[AAm/NVP/DAPB] Hydrogels for Removal of Some Textile Anionic Dyes from Aqueous Solution

Abstract: Novel cationic poly [AAm/NVP/DAPB] hydrogels (YH 1 -YH 5 ) were synthesized by free radical solution polymerization of AAm, NVP and DAPB by increasing the concentration of DAPB in the feed. According to swelling experiments, hydrogel YH 5 with higher DAPB content gave relative higher swelling percentage compared to other hydrogels. The hydrogel YH 5 was characterized by FTIR, TGA and SEM analysis. The anionic dye solution such as Orange-II, Reactive Golden Yellow and Acid Yellow were used as an adsorption medi… Show more

“…Further, it was found that 62.51, 78.32 and 95.95% of AY were adsorbed onto 5, 7, and 10 mg of adsorbent, respectively, in 50 mL of 0.03 mg mL −1 AY solution. This was due to the increase in active sites for adsorption with increasing adsorbent doses 32‐34 . Conversely, when the adsorbent concentration was increased from 10 to 30 mg, the adsorption percentage of AY remained almost unchanged as it reached the saturation stage of adsorption of AY.…”

“…The initial pH values of the AY solution and LDH suspension play a major role in the adsorption process. 34,35 It can be seen in Fig. 8 that the adsorption percentage of AY onto LDH at 25 °C was decreased with increasing pH of the overall suspension from 5 to 9, and the maximum adsorption percentage of AY was achieved at pH 5.…”
