Novel Broadband Bow-Tie Antenna Based on Complementary Split-Ring Resonators Enhanced Substrate-Integrated Waveguide

Abstract: This paper presents a broadband bow-tie antenna based on the metamaterial-inspired periodic structure of coupled complementary split-ring resonators substrate-integrated waveguide for the first time. The CSRRs and two branches of the bow-tie patch are etched on the top and bottom metal surfaces of the substrate. The CSRRs produce a resonant frequency, which can be combined with the two resonant frequencies produced by the bow-tie patch and the feedline of the bow-tie patch. The bandwidth can then be broadened.… Show more

“…In our prior work [15], a broadband bow-tie antennabased CSRR-SIW is proposed. It confirms that the CSRR-SIW not only confines wave propagation within the waveguide but also radiates electromagnetic waves through the CSRRs.…”

“…Additionally, the resonators are imprinted on the substrate, which facilitates significantly the fabrication procedure, while it retains the ability to integrate components into a single substrateintegrated platform. Specifically, several antenna configurations have been proposed such as a leaky-wave antenna with adjustable main-lobe [9], an H-plane sectoral-horn antenna [10] and a broadband bow-tie [11].…”
