Abstract:A novel optical time-division multiple-access (OTDMA) technique is introduced that can offer multirate data communications. The proposed multirate time-division multiplexing and demultiplexing can be implemented in the optical domain by using simple optical delay lines. The architectures for all-optical clock-rate multipliers are also presented. It is shown that the complexity of the proposed OTDMA network is almost the same as that of an equal-rate OTDMA network, but using our scheme can significantly improve… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
