“…The RPl Ouranopithecus sample is rich, including mainly cranial and dental remains, as well as a few postcranials [de Bonis et al, 1974[de Bonis et al, , 1975[de Bonis et al, , 1998Melentis, 1977a, b, 1978;Koufos, 1993, 2014;de Bonis, 2004, 2006]. “…In N. nakayamai, however, the upper canine is slightly higher-crowned with the mesial shoulder more elevated from the cervix. The upper canines of Ouranopithecus are heavily worn and/or damaged, but in some specimens, such as RPl128 (presumed male) and RPl775 [sex disputed (30,31)], there seems to be a swelling on the basal part of the lingual aspect. It does not appear, however, to be so clearly differentiated as in N. nakayamai.…”

“…The dentition is more worn than the other specimens, and based on size is probably from a female. It is very small compared to CO-300, and has a smaller dentition than RPL-54a, a probable female mandible of O. macedoniensis (de Bonis et al, 1974;de Bonis and Melentis, 1977).…”
