Pemphis acidula is a wild plant in rocky or sandy coastal areas and mangrove ecosystems. Different geographic characteristics may affect plant adaptability and have an impact on the emergence of various genotypes. This study was performed to reveal the phenetic relationship and genetic variation of P. acidula in 3 different areas in Tomini Bay, Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. We took 3 samples from each location and analysed them using 14 morphological characters and molecular approaches based on ISSR markers and ITS gene. The results showed that P. acidula on Olele had bigger sizes in some morphological features compared to the plants in other study areas. The phenetic analysis showed that P. acidula at Biluhu and Dulanga were more closely related, although P. acidula at the 3 locations had 100% similarity. Genetic variation analysis showed the highest genetic similarity based on ISSR markers was found in Dulanga and Biluhu samples (76.8%). Phylogenetic based on ITS gene revealed that Olele samples were in the same clade with P. acidula accession from GenBank (genetic distance 0-0.19%), while Biluhu samples were a sister group (genetic distance 24.97-25.03%) even though their percentage identity corresponds to P. acidula (81.34%). Plant adaptation to different habitat conditions may affect the genetic diversity of P. acidula.

Sentigi (Pemphis acidula) is one of the mangrove species that is classified as pure stand so it has the potential to be used as an indicator species in the mangrove area in Gili Sulat. The research location ganti dengan Kawasan Konservasi Laut Daerah (KKLD) Gili Sulat Lombok Timur. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of sentigi as environmental bioindicators in mangrove forests in Gili Sulat, East Lombok. The research method is done by delineation method using high resolution satellite imagery and ground check. Determination of the sampling point at the research location was determined using satellite imagery. The data analysis technique uses visualization analysis of satellite imagery catches and analysis of mangrove vegetation which is described descriptively. The results of this study indicate that a) species Sentigi can be identified using high resolution satellite imagery based on the color resolution quality of satellite imagery, namely high, medium and low cover. (b) Sentigi species can be used as indicator plants in the Gili Sulat mangrove community based on the characteristics of environmental factors such as habitat type, habitat altitude, pH and salinity. Conclusions from this study include: a. The distribution of the population of stands sentigi (Pemphis acidula) on Gili Sulat is unique, namely in the middle of a mangrove forest. b.population Sentigistands on Gili Sulat are grouped separately as pure stands. c. Satellite imagery can be used to identify the presence of populations sentigi on Gili Sulat. (d) The presence of sentigi can be a bioindicator of sandy environments, ecoton areas, and climax succession in Gili Sulat.

Megastigmidae comprises more than 200 species in 12 genera. Megastigmus has a worldwide distribution with more than 150 species. Over 80% of these species are recorded from the Australian and Palearctic region, with a few from Afrotropical and Oriental regions, but none from the Neotropical region. We describe a new species of Megastigmus obtained from the seeds of Pemphis acidula in the Maldives Archipelago. This is the first mention of Megastigmidae having as a host plant a species from Lythraceae. It is also the first recorded association of Chalcidoidea with the genus Pemphis and the first mention of Megastigmidae and Megastigmus in the Maldives Archipelago. We provide a detailed description of the species, focusing on its morphology, using both light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Megastigmus irinae Popescu n. sp. is a strictly phytophagous species, with each larva consuming a single seed. Currently, M. irinae is an endemic species found only in the Maldives Archipelago. However, considering the distribution of its host plant, P. acidula, which ranges from East Africa to Southeast Asia, Australia, Micronesia, and French Polynesia, we anticipate that future research could significantly expand the known range of this interesting new species.
