Notes on holographic Schwinger effect

Abstract: Abstract:We use the method of evaluating the decay rate in terms of the imaginary part of a probe brane action to study the holographic Schwinger effect. In the confining D3-branes case, we find that the Schwinger effect occurs at energy scales higher than the Kaluza-Klein mass, indicating the absence of such effect when the dual gauge field theory can be regarded as an 2+1 dimensional theory. This property is independent of the configuration of the probe brane. In the case of D3-branes with a B field dual to … Show more

“…In that case there are several way to deform AdS space in agreement with experimental data and lattice QCD results [36][37][38][39]. Deformation parameter of AdS space may related to the electromagnetic field, on the other hand electromagnetic field may related to non-commutative space [40] so it is completely reasonable that any modification in the space related to the electrostatic potential. In the recent work [41] the supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory considered to study instability (related to the Schwinger effect) caused by the external electric field through the imaginary part of the action of the D7 probe brane embedded in the background of type IIB theory.…”

“…As mentioned above, m q and c are already included in the above Lagrangian (16). To find the production rate, the remaining work is to perform the integration of (17) with respect to ρ over an appropriate range.…”
