Abstract: The presence of snake's blood inside the alimentary canal of the species Opisthogonimus lecithonotus (Trematoda, Digenea, Plagiorchiidae) collected from the mouth of Bothrops moojeni (Serpentes, Viperidae) is reported. The implications of this observation to the host snake are discussed.

Ochetosoma heterocoelium (Digenea: Plagiorchiidae) en ofidios de Colombia

Se identifi ca Ochetosoma heterocoelium Travassos, 1921 como un parásito de importancia veterinaria en ofi dios de diferentes localidades de Colombia y se redescribe con base en las características morfológicas de individuos juveniles y adultos. La carga parasitaria de O. heterocoelium varió de 3-207 individuos alojados en la cavidad bucal de los ofi dios, causando desde infecciones leves hasta obstrucción mecánica en el esófago y órgano de Jacobson. Los bajos valores de abundancia y prevalencia en las localidades de Maceo, Vegachí y Acandí y en los ofi dios Leptodeira septentrionalis, Bothriechis schlegelii, Bothrops asper y Porthidium nasutum sugieren que el parásito no es una amenaza para los ofi dios de Colombia. El tratamiento propuesto consiste en la remoción manual de los digeneos junto con la desparasitación de los ofi dios con Praziquantel 7.5 mg /kg PO, en 2 tomas con 15 días de diferencia, la aplicación de antisépticos y el seguimiento de su recuperación. Se identifi can 4 zonas de distribución de O. heterocoelium: Magdalena medio, Valle de Aburrá, Urabá Chocoano y la zona norte de Colombia; se amplía así su distribución geográfi ca desde Brasil y Venezuela. Como nuevos hospederos se registran Atractus lasallei, Bothriechis schlegelii, Bothrops asper, Chironius carinatus, Leptodeiraseptentrionalis, Leptophis ahaetulla y Porthidium nasutum.
