Abstract

Notes on Archaic sculpture : recent joins in the Akropolis Museum The work of identifying, reclassifying, and digital documentation of fragments in the reserves of the new Akropolis museum, as well as the study of numerous fragments hitherto deposited in wooden boxes, have permitted obtaining some forty joins, in particular on Archaic statues, of which the most significant are published here. Some complete, sometimes substantially, known works (dog Akr. 143, rider Akr. 700, giant Akr. 631C). A “ new” kore (Akr. 588) has also been reconstituted. The article illustrates the interest and utility of the systematic study of fragments, even the most modest.
