Not all texts are created equal: Design considerations for text message interventions to improve antihypertensive medication adherence

Abstract: Text messaging interventions can be effective for promoting adherence to antihypertensive pharmacotherapy, and the article by Varleta and colleagues 1 in this issue of the Journal of Clinical Hypertensionshows that one-way, nontailored messages delivered once every 12 days can increase the percentage of patients with new-onset hypertension in a low-middle-income country who report adherence at 6 months.
