Nontraditional Feedstuffs as an Alternative in Poultry Feed

Abstract: Soybean meal and yellow corn are conventional feedstuffs used as the main ingredients in poultry feeds due to their high nutrients availability. On the other hand, these two feedstuffs are high in demand by other animals (soybean meal) and humans (yellow corn). By the year 2050, the world’s population is expected to increase up to 9.1 billion. Global consumption of poultry products, such as meat or eggs is increasing predominantly in developing countries. Consequently, the global demand for poultry feedstuffs … Show more

“…Oocysts released in the faeces (non-sporulated) are not pathogenic, whereas if environmental conditions are available from moisture and temperature, they will be invasive and able to infect the birds (López-Osorio et al, 2020). Feeding a portion of soluble and insoluble fibre in poultry feed may lead to enhance the gut health (Alshelmani et al, 2021).…”

“…Abdominal fat deposits on the body of broilers are influenced by several factors, namely genetics, nutrition, sex, age of chickens, and environmental factors [33]- [35]. Genetically, native chickens do not contain a lot of body fat; even [35] states that native chickens have a shallow abdominal fat content.…”

“…Solid-state fermentation of feed by bacteria with cellulolytic and hemicellulolytic activity can reduce insoluble dietary fiber contents and increase growth performance on swine (Liu et al 2017). The addition of exogenous fiber hydrolyzing enzymes such as cellulose and hemicellulase as supplement can improve the feed's nutritional value and digestibility (Zamani et al 2017;Alshelmani et al 2021).…”
