Nonstaining Blood Flow Imaging Using Optical Interference Due to Doppler Shift and Near-Infrared Imaging of Molecular Distribution in Developing Fish Egg Embryos

Abstract: In the present study, we successfully obtained nonstaining blood flow images of a developing fish egg embryo using optical interference caused by the Doppler shift. The spectral distribution of light reflected by moving objects such as the heart and red cells was found to be different from that of the incident light because of the Doppler effect. Interference between different frequency components was observed in an interferogram through heterodyne interaction using an imaging-type two-dimensional Fourier spec… Show more

“…This results from the red-shift and broadening of the overtone bands due to hydrogen-bonding. The resulting broad, overlapping bands may become even less distinct in the spectra of biological samples where overlapping with the ν CH bands of lipids is anticipated 3638 .…”

“…For instance, novel NIR hyperspectral imaging approaches are capable of examining entire organisms 3537 . Real-time measurements of dynamic processes such as blood flow have recently become possible 38 . NIR spectroscopy is suitable for non-destructive investigations of the samples with high water content as well 35 .…”

“…The enhanced data acquisition speed of the above methods has the potential to describe the oscillatory behavior of TM surface in a phase‐sensitive manner. Furthermore, extensions of ODT have been manipulated to monitor changes in vascular microstructure and the fine structure of living tissues . Despite extensive OCT and ODT progress in measurements of TM vibration mechanics over the past several decades, the basic phenomena remain to be well understood.…”

“…In the past decade, powerful NIR imaging devices and systems have been presented, and the efficiency of NIR imaging has led to it being evaluated for pharmaceutical applications. 7,[24][25][26] We developed a portable NIR imaging device, D-NIRs. 27,28 For an 8 mm tablet sample, D-NIRs can monitor two-dimensional spectra in the 900-1700 nm region within 5 s. D-NIRs' potential as a PAT tool has been discussed in previous studies, [29][30][31] which have demonstrated that the concentration of components in a tablet can be estimated by D-NIRs with high quantitative accuracy.…”
