Nonresonance Compton scattering of an X-ray photon by a Ni-like atomic ion

Abstract: The absolute values and the shape of the double differential cross section for nonresonance Compton scattering of an X ray photon by an atomic ion with d symmetry in the core are studied theoretically beyond the impulse approximation for the example of the Ni like atomic ions Zn 2+ , Kr 8+ , and Mo 14+ . It is established that, as the nuclear charge of an ion increases, (a) in all the scattering channels, the leading har monics of transition to states of the continuous spectrum are concentrated and (b) the int… Show more

“…The ligand functions were calculated in accordance with the procedure presented in Section 3 of this work. The wave functions of ligand electrons (see Table 1) were obtained beforehand by solving the Hartree-Fock system of integro-differential equations using the software developed at the Department of Physics at Rostov State Transport University [13,34]. To improve the accuracy of the energy characteristics of molecular states when calculating MO wave functions, the computational scheme with a constant step along radius r was replaced with the scheme with a variable step along r in accordance with the expression:…”
