“…Therefore, CE could not be accepted as a routine laboratory technique in this area. Due to these reasons, many workers [36,[66][67][68][69][70][71] have suggested different modifications and alternations to make CE a method of choice for the analysis and speciation of metal ions in different matrices. To achieve good sensitivity and reproducibility, the selection of the capillary wall chemistry, pH and ionic strength of BGE, complexing and visualizing agents, detectors and optimization of BGE have also been described [72][73][74][75][76].…”

“…A good complexing agent must be (i) highly pure, (ii) soluble in BGE, (iii) should form stable, sensitive and a single state complex and (iv) should have good UV absorbance. The complexing agent is either added to the electrolyte (in situ online complexation) or in the sample before introducing into the capillary column (offline complexation) [36]. With the online complexation method, the mobility of cations towards the negative electrode can be selectively moduled due to the partial complexation within the capillary and, hence, metal complexes of different charges and sizes are formed and result in good separation.…”

“…A dificuldade inicial encontrada na otimização da separação de vários cátions metálicos é causada, em parte, por que estes apresentam valores de condutância equivalente similares, e conseqüentemente mobilidades iônicas próximas, inviabilizando a separação. A semelhança pronunciada dos valores de condutância equivalente, entre os metais de transição e transição interna, faz com que este grupo de cátions seja um dos mais difíceis de se obter uma separação satisfatória 2,3 .…”

“…Considering the need to determine different inorganic species in mineral and plant materials, as well as the analytical difficulties related to the separation of several cations simultaneously, this paper aims to describe the separation of 14 2 + ), which are important not only as nutrients but also as contaminants in mineral and phytotherapeutic samples. The contactless conductivity measurements based on the positive/negative variation of the basal signal generated by the conducting electrolyte was optimized and validated for the quantitative determination of the species in real samples.…”
