Nonlocal effects and shrinkage of the vortex core radius inYNi2B2Cprobed by muon spin rotation

Abstract: The magnetic field distribution in the vortex state of YNi2B2C has been probed by muon spin rotation (µSR). The analysis based on the London model with nonlocal corrections shows that the vortex lattice has changed from hexagonal to square with increasing magnetic field H. At low fields the vortex core radius, ρv(H), decreases with increasing H much steeper than what is expected from the √ H behavior of the Sommerfeld constant γ(H), strongly suggesting that the anomaly in γ(H) primarily arises from the quasipa… Show more

“…[22] Meanwhile, in the case of an s-wave superconductor YNi 2 B 2 C in which strong anisotropy for ∆ k is suggested experimentally [23], η ≃ 1 is reported from a µSR study. [24] The comparison of these earlier results with our result suggests that the anisotropy of the order parameter in Cd 2 Re 2 O 7 is considerably smaller than YNi 2 B 2 C.…”

“…On the other hand, it is also quite unlikely that the d-wave pairing is realized in MgB 2 , because the coefficient η is much smaller than those in high-T c cuprates. The recent observation that the order parameter in YNi 2 B 2 C (where the pairing symmetry has been identified as s-wave 31) ) has point nodes 32) exhibits a good correspondence with the intermediate value of η(∼ 1) obtained by µSR, 27) suggesting that there is a similar situation in MgB 2 . Thus, the present µSR result leads us to conclude that the order parameter in MgB 2 has a structure with an energy gap smaller than ε ≃ 1 meV.…”

“…A similar domain structure at lower field has been observed in V 3 Si. Once the FLL structure is resolved by SANS measurements, high quality µSR spectra can provide rich information on the mixed state though the detailed mapping of B(r); as it has been demonstrated in the earlier works 13,21 , the lineshape strongly depends on λ, ξ v , n xxyy and d in Eq. (2) and thereby they can be deduced by fitting analysis without much ambiguity.…”
