Nonlinear robust control of power system considering wide‐area signals' delay and incompleteness

Abstract: SUMMARYA novel nonlinear robust controller based on the wide-area measurement system (WAMS) is proposed using the inverse system algorithm and linear matrix inequality technique. The controller not only takes into account time delays introduced by remote signals' transmission in WAMS, but also eliminates the effect of wide-area information's incompleteness when not all generators are equipped with the phase measurement unit (PMU) in power system. Digital simulation studies with respect to a four-machine system… Show more

“…The authors in Reference [5] present the application of Hilbert analysis to determine the nature and propagation of disturbances based on PMU data. A nonlinear robust controller that uses PMU data and accounts for the delay introduced by remote signals as well as the incomplete information that results when not all generators are equipped with PMUs is described in Reference [6]. A framework based on a sensor web and the Common Information Model (CIM) is discussed in Reference [7]; it incorporates PMU data and considers interoperability and wide-area monitoring.…”

“…To address demand response programs as another reserve resource to mitigate wind power output uncertainty, Zhao et al used the optimization approach to derive an optimal unit commitment decision for the reliability unit commitment. Besides, Yu et al put forwards a novel nonlinear robust controller. Chen et al presented a robust long‐term transmission expansion planning problem using the maximum cost and maximum regret of the expansion plan over all uncertainties.…”
