Nonlinear optical phase conjugation using F+3 centers in LiF crystals

Abstract: We report the experimental observation of nonlinear optical phase conjugation using F+3 centers in LiF crystals. Using a pulsed dye laser (460 nm) as pump light, a maximum phase conjugate reflectivity of about 0.1% was obtained.

“…This new E835 work-in the canonical γη c mode-should give added stimulus to the search for the 1 P 1 state in other experiments. The cascade decay B → h c K ( * ) → γη c K ( * ) offers one promising approach [8,9,10]. In hadron colliders, it may be possible to observe η c → ϕϕ (≈ 3 per mille branching fraction) or another hadronic mode, with or without a secondary vertex tag to enhance B-decay as a source, then to look for the 500-MeV photon from h c → γη c .…”

“…Therefore, most of the remanent F 2 color centers have decomposed photothermally. The dominant + fluorescence is very significant for obtaining stable room-temperature green color-center lasers[2,33] or nonlinear optical phase conjugation[1]. The present concentration of the + 3 F color centers in the colored OMC LiF crystal is not enough high for lasing or nonlinear optical application.…”
