Nonlinear Forced Oscillations and Stability Analysis of the Automotive Gearbox System

Abstract: In this paper, nonlinear oscillation of the automobile gear system is studied. The backlash dynamic parameter is included in the nonlinear mathematical modeling of the problem. Using multiple scale method, forced vibration responses of the gear system including Primary, Sub-harmonic and Super-harmonic resonances are investigated. In each case, the jump phenomenon and stability analysis are studied. In addition, the effect of dynamic and manufacturing parameters of the gear system on the time responses are anal… Show more

“…Wei et al 3 also proposed a 6 DOFs helical gear transmission model and analyzed the effects of dynamic transmission errors and stabilities. Another group of investigations [4][5][6][7][8][9] show interest in nonlinear dynamics of geared systems due to backlash, bearing radial clearance as well as time-variant mesh stiffness. Jump phenomenon, bifurcation, and chaos have been reported to reveal the nonlinearity.…”
