This paper presents an analysis of viscous fluids and a Rivlin–Ericksen (R‐E) viscoelastic fluid interface under the influence of heat and mass transfer, while both fluids are exposed to an axial electric field. The fluids are restricted within an annular region that is enclosed by two rigid cylinders. The outer section of the annular region holds the R‐E viscoelastic fluid, while the inner section is filled with the viscous fluid. To ascertain the correlation between perturbation growth and wavenumber, the theory of potential flow on viscoelastic–viscous fluids is applied, and the result is represented as a second‐order polynomial. This correlation is numerically solved using the Newton–Raphson method. Variables of viscous flow, such as electric field strength, heat transfer coefficient, viscoelasticity, viscosity, and so forth, are numerically studied. With an increase in electric field strength, the perturbation growth decays and expands for the particular combinations of permittivity and conductivity ratio, showing the dual effect of the axial electric field.

Current study aims at simulating fluid flow due to a deformable heated surface in an otherwise static viscoelastic fluid obeying Walters-B model. Velocity of the surface is supposed to grow as time from its initiation of motion progress. Simulations in this work are based on the assumption of quadratic surface temperature distribution. Temperature rise attributed to the frictional heating effect is accounted for in the analysis. By choosing appropriate base functions, homotopy solutions are developed for reasonably large values of material fluid parameter. Reliability of the analytical results is established by computing averaged squared residual of the system. The contributions of the surface acceleration and elasticity on the boundary layer formation are enlightened through the plots of velocity components and temperature. Skin friction measuring the stress experienced by the surface is evaluated and examined under different controlling parameters. The paper also presents a numerical solution using NDSolve of MATHEMATICA in a special case of steady flow, and such solution agrees very well with the corresponding homotopy solution.

This work examines the impact of an unchanged longitudinal electric field and the ambient gas on the EHD instability of an Oldroyd-B fluid in a vertical cylinder, where the system is immersed in permeable media. In order to explore the possible subject uses in thermo-fluid systems, numerous experimental and theoretical types of research on the subject are conducted. The main factors influencing the dispersion and stability configurations are represented by the energy and concentration equations. The linear Boussinesq approximating framework is recommended for further convenience. A huge growth in numerous physical and technical implications is what motivated this study. Using the standard normal modes of examination, the characteristics of velocity fields, temperature, and concentration are analyzed. The conventional stability results in a non-dimensional convoluted transcendental dispersion connection between the non-dimensional growth rate and all other physical parameters. The Maranogoni phenomenon, in which temperature and concentration distributions affect surface tension, has been addressed. It is observed that the intense electric field, the Prandtl numeral, the Lewis numeral, and the Lewis numeral velocity ratio have a stabilizing influence. As opposed to the Weber numeral, the Ohnesorge numeral, and the density ratio have a destabilizing influence.
