To reduce shaking of a vibration screed system (VSS) and improve the paving performance of an asphalt paver (AP), the root-mean-square (RMS) acceleration responses at points on the front and rear screed floors are analyzed via an experimental method. A 3D nonlinear dynamic model of the VSS is also built to evaluate the influence of the dynamic parameters of the VSS on the compression efficiency, paving quality, and working stability of the AP based on the objective functions of the vertical, pitching, and rolling RMS values at the centre of gravity of the screed. The angular deviations, $alpha$ and $gamma$, of the tamper are then controlled to improve the paving performance. The research results show that the excitation frequency, $f_{t}$, and both angular deviations, $alpha$ and $gamma$, of the tamper strongly affect the paving performance. The compression efficiency is quickly enhanced, while both paving quality and working stability are significantly reduced with increasing the excitation frequency $f_{t}$ and reducing the angular deviations. $alpha$ and $gamma$. and vice versa. Additionally, the screed shaking and paving performance of the AP are remarkably improved by control of the angular deviations, $alpha$ and $gamma$, under different working conditions.

In order to research the impact of the vibration on working stability of the vibration compaction system (VCS) and increase the paver's performance, the acceleration responses at the screed surface under the excitation frequencies of the tampers and vibration screed are analyzed via the root mean square acceleration responses (RMSAR) at the bottom of the screed surface. A non-linear dynamic model of the VCS is then established to research the impact of the VCS's dynamic parameters on the performance of paver via the objective functions of the vertical, pitch and roll RMSAR of the vibration screed. The dynamic parameters are then optimized based on a multi-objective genetic algorithm to enhance the paver's performance. The experiment and simulation results show that the dynamic parameters greatly affect the paver's performance. The compression performance is quickly increased, while the working stability and paving quality are reduced with increasing the angular deviations of tampers and excitation frequencies of both the tampers and vibration screed and vice versa. Also, the paver's performance is significantly improved by using the optimal parameters of the VCS.

Hydraulic vibratory hammer is a key equipment during piling process, and mechanical, hydraulic part of the hammer and workload are coupled with each other during operation. The vibration performance depends on the design parameters and the driving system. In order to investigate the vibration performance, a coupled dynamic model is established for hydraulic vibratory hammer, in which the mechanical model of hammer, hydraulic model for driving, and the model of workload are included. The filed test was carried out to validate the dynamic model under idle and operating conditions. Pressure and flow of the hydraulic driving system and acceleration of the mechanical part were obtained during different test conditions. The results of test and simulation were analyzed in time and frequency domain to validate the coupled dynamic model. Then, effects of different eccentric block parameters on the vibration performance were investigated based on the validated model, including radius, thickness, and angle of the eccentric block. Further the design parameters of optimal vibration performance of the hammer are obtained under the constraints of hammer structure, in which the angle is 90°, thickness is 190 mm, and radius is 175 mm.Article Highlights We established a coupled dynamic model of the hydraulic vibratory hammer, including the mechanical model of hammer, hydraulic model for driving, and the simplified model of workload.; The field test is proceeded to validate the model under idle and operating condition; the dynamic response of the mechanical part and hydraulic driving part is analyzed in time and frequency domain; The performance of the hammer is analyzed with the coupled dynamic model, in which better performance of the hammer is obtained. The model-based method also provides a rapid and economical solution for the performance optimization of the hammer.
