The Yb:KYW crystal provides a much larger nonlinear refraction-index (8.7×10 -16 cm 2 /W) [13] than Ti:sapphire. Varying the position of Yb:KYW nearby the confocal focus to change the intracavity Kerr-effects, we can control the pump threshold to start mode-locking and stable regions to maintain modelocking.…”
