Nonimpact rock pressure regulation with energy recovery into the hydraulic system of the longwall powered support

The information about the state of the use of natural resources in Russia is given and the need to search for new sources of raw materials for industry is justified. There is a tendency to reduce the production capacity and the rate of extraction of metal ores, which does not allow the use of the infrastructure of mining enterprises and creates the problem of processing substandard ore deposits and disposal of accumulated waste. The concept of deep processing of substandard metal-containing raw materials and a strategy for the survival of mining enterprises, including the use of metal leaching technologies, is formulated. The advantages of technologies with the leaching of metals from mineral raw materials at the stages of its processing are characterized. The advantages of leaching in disintegrators are shown by comparison with the indicators of the basic variant. It is noted that mechanochemical activation improves the quality of concretes made on the basis of recycled tailings. Managing the properties of recyclable materials allows you to implement the principles of resource conservation with an economic effect. It is concluded that the recommended technology is the real direction of technological modification of production.

The underground mining environment is currently based on technology that uses mainly analogue sensors in machine and equipment control systems. The primary machine performing the most important functions in a mining system is the powered roof support. In order for it to work properly, it is important that it achieves the required power. To ensure this, it is necessary to continuously and precisely monitor the pressure in the under-piston space of the prop. Due to the extreme environmental conditions, pressure sensors should have high sensitivity, large transmission capacity, small size and light weight. To achieve these requirements, the authors of the article propose to implement a monitoring system based on photonics technology. To achieve this goal, several studies were carried out. The range of these studies included simulations, bench tests and tests under real conditions. The obtained test results showed the possibility of developing the control system for the powered roof support, the additional function to supercharge power. Based on the analysis of the obtained test results, assumptions were developed for the development of a power charging system with monitoring sensors. Based on the guidelines obtained from the research results, thedevelopment of the above prototype based on photonics technology is proposed.

The current problems associated with the maintenance of hard coal longwall mining dependon the application or use of extraction technologies. In order to make the best use of these technologies,a new approach based on simulation studies is necessary. This paper aims to develop a mathematicalmodel for the powered roof support’s operation. The three groups of professionals involved inthe testing of the roof support were involved in the work on changing the hydraulic system of thepowered roof support stand. These professionals were powered roof support’s designers, researchersand users. The research subject was the development of a mathematical model as a starting pointfor conducting simulations. The model is based on d’Alembert’s principle and the equation of thebalance of flow rates. Based on the developed model, it is possible to determine the pressure inthe space under the piston of the hydraulic prop. The results obtained in the simulations are thebasic assumptions for the development of a prototype that would solve the current problems inthe hydraulic systems of powered roof supports. The adopted research methodology assumed thedevelopment of a mathematical model, simulation in the MATLAB environment and verificationof the model on a test stand. The obtained results of simulation tests based on the developedmathematical model were confirmed in bench tests. Simulation and bench tests determined thecorrectness of the assumptions made for the development of the prototype model. Based on theanalysis of the results, the nature of the work of the future prototype has been predetermined. Thenext stage will be the testing of the prototype, which is to be included in the hydraulic system of theprop of powered roof support in the future. The model mentioned before is the baseline model, andit will be modified depending on the application of the future design in real conditions. Simulationstudies of powered roof support will allow the structure that is used currently to be optimised, so asto adapt it to increasingly difficult working conditions.
