Noncoding RNAs in Cancer Diagnosis

Abstract: The accuracy and efficiency of tumor treatment depends mainly on early and precise diagnosis. Although histopathology is always the gold standard for cancer diagnosis, noninvasive biomarkers represent an opportunity for early detection and molecular staging of cancer. Besides the classical tumor markers, noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) emerge to be a novel category of biomarker for cancer diagnosis since the dysregulation of ncRNAs is closely associated with the development and progression of human cancers such as liv… Show more

“…Increasing evidences revealed that non-coding RNAs, particularly lncRNAs and miRNAs, have considerable potential values in improving the diagnostic and therapeutic of GC. 25,26 Researchers have found a large number of lncRNAs in GC development, such as lncRNA HOXC-AS3, 27 LINC01234 4 and lncRNA-KRTAP5-AS1. 28 Aberrantly expressed lncRNAs are involved in various malignant cytological behaviours of GC cells.…”

“…The identification of new targets involved in NSCLC tumor genesis may result in the development of novel diagnostic and prognostic strategies. Recently, with the application of high‐throughput sequencing and bioinformatics, more and more dysregulated lncRNAs have been identified in various tumor tissues, including NSCLC 24,25 . In addition, a growing number of studies have shed light on the biogenesis and function of lncRNAs.…”

“…This makes non-coding RNAs a convenient target for suppressing tumor development with minimal possible impact on healthy cells [ 112 ]. Among other things, non-coding RNAs have shown themselves to be a promising marker for the diagnosis of oncogenic diseases [ 113 ]. This diagnostic method is convenient, as non-coding RNAs can be easily detected in the cells and biological fluids of the patient.…”
