“…The overall response rate of PEI in our study was 78.33% which is comparable to previous reported data from across the globe [Table 4],[121920212223] and India. PEI resulted in >50% reduction in 13 out of 15 patients (86.67%) with predominantly cystic thyroid nodules (>2/3 rd cystic component) in a study from Tamil Nadu.…”

“…In 1994, Monzani et al reported a 95% success rate in treating 20 cysts with this technique. Similar success rates have been reported by other groups . In 2004, Valcavi and Frasoldati reported the results of a trial of 281 patients randomized to simple aspiration versus percutaneous ethanol.…”

“…Percutaneous ethanol injection has successfully treated cystic nodules (3,10,(21)(22)(23)(24), but is no longer recommended for solid benign thyroid nodules (2,3,10,21,25,26). Moreover, ethanol sclerotherapy has some unavoidable drawbacks, including pain, laryngeal nerve palsy, and extraglandular fibrosis that could impede subsequent surgery in case of treatment failure (25).…”
