Non-reciprocal and non-Newtonian mechanical metamaterials

Abstract: Non-Newtonian liquids are characterized by stress and velocity-dependent dynamical response. In elasticity, and in particular, in the field of phononics, reciprocity in the equations acts against obtaining a directional response for passive media.
