“…Since the temperature of NaAlO 2 sealing reached about 85 °C, it can be seen from Table that the value of AlOOH(or Al(OH) 3 )/Al 2 O 3 in the NaAlO 2 sealed sample is similar to that of hydrothermally sealed sample, we speculated that the reaction of Equation can also occur with NaAlO 2 sealing. As mentioned in the previous report, AlOOH can also be generated on the surface of anodized film through the reaction of Equation . Therefore, from the above discussion, we think that Equations and may both occur and more AlOOH was formed with NaAlO 2 sealing.…”

“…This indicates that the dominant O species in the corrosion products changes from O 2-to OHas the corrosion time increases. The Al2p band consists of one peak at 74.2 ± 0.2 eV, which corresponds to Al(OH)3 [22], as shown in Figure 4c. Combining the XRD and EDS results, the corrosion products of 12Cr1MoV steel corroded for 1 d were mainly To further understand the corrosion products, XPS characterizations were used to survey the elemental states of the Fe, O, and Al species.…”

“…Therefore, this hydrothermal sealing method possesses the advantages of [17]. Sealing by using nickel salt solutions can effectively improve the sealing quality, lower the sealing temperature, reduce the sealing time, and stabilize the organic dye molecules in the micropores of the anodic oxidation film, but the insurmountable problem lies in the environmental pollution as caused by nickel ions [18]. Additionally, sealing with a bichromate solution has the merits of easy operation and satisfactory corrosion resistance, which can thus be applied for protection applications through sealing the holes of the anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) film on aluminum alloys, but the high toxicity of hexavalent chromium, even with a carcinogenic effect, largely limits the practical applications [13].…”
