A two dimensional capillary isotachophoretic method (cITP⎯cITP) using electrolyte system consisting of leading electrolytes (LE1): [10 mM HCl + β alanine (pH 3.9) + 0.1% hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC)] and (LE2): [10 mM HCl + aminocaproic acid (pH 5.00) + 0.1% HEC], and 5 mM caproic acid as terminating electrolyte (TE) was studied. Two methods of detection, conductometric and UV Vis, were applied to the determination of selected food preservatives and additives. Practical applicability was demon strated by simultaneous determination of benzoates, sorbates, citrates and orthophosphates in 12 samples of beverages. The proposed method revealed linearity with R 2 between 0.9992 and 0.9999 for the concentration ranges: 10-100 mg/L (orthophosphate and citrate ions), 20-100 mg/L (sorbates) and 40-120 mg/L for ben zoates. The detection limits for all studied ions were from 0.85 to 3.1 mg/L whereas the quantification ones were from 2.8 to 10 mg/L. The variation coefficients for five fold analysis of all ions ranged between 0.4 and 9.1%. Obtained recoveries (from 97 to 104%) confirmed satisfactory accuracy of the proposed cITP-cITP method for the determination of tested food additives.

Herein, 1,3,6,8‐pyrenetetrasulfonic acid (PTSA) functionalized Pt nanocomposites were synthesized and characterized by UV/vis, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS), FTIR, TEM, and XRD methods. Pyrenetetrasulfonic acid was not only used as the stabilizer to prevent agglomeration of Pt nanoparticles but also served as the light‐harvesting photosensitizer, absorbing irradiating light and transferring photoexited electrons to the platinum nanoparticles. The occurrence of the photoinduced electron transfer process was confirmed by the combination of time‐resolved fluorescence and photoelectrochemical spectral measurements. Photocatalytic results showed that PTSA functionalized Pt nanocomposites could be used as stable photocatalysts for photoinducing H2 evolution. At the optimal reaction conditions (nPt:nPTSA=100, pH 3), enhanced amounts of hydrogen were evolved from the system under UV/vis irradiation in the absence of an electron mediator. The corresponding amount of hydrogen evolution was 125.1 μmol for 12 h exposure to UV/vis irradiation, and the apparent quantum efficiency at a wavelength of λ=365 nm was 11.5 %.

International audienceIn pig production, food conversion ratio and profit can be evaluated by real time detection of pig live weight. Traditional pig weight detections usually require direct contact with pigs, which are limited by its low efficiency and result in a lot of stresses even to death. The non-contact detection of pig body weight has become a challenge in pig production for decades. Digital image analysis and machine vision method enable the real time estimation of pig live weight by detecting pig critical body dimensions without any contact. This article elucidated the advantages and limitations of each detection method of pig body weight by comparing the system framework and estimation models. The research trends of contactless pig weight estimation were analyzed as well
