Noise power scheduling in active noise control systems with online secondary path modeling

Abstract: Abstract:In active noise control (ANC) systems, the online secondary path modeling (OSPM) methods that use additive random noise are often applied. The additive random noise, however, contributes to the residual noise, and thus deteriorates the noise control performance of ANC systems. This paper proposes a new OSPM method with power scheduling of additive random noise. Here the OSPM filter is adapted using a variable step size (VSS) LMS algorithm already proposed by authors. Furthermore, the additive-random-n… Show more

“…The averaging of the adaptive filter, which removes the effect of additive random noise, leads to an increase in convergence rate. The third type is to control the power of additive noise or/and step size in the online modeling process [29][30][31][32][33][34][35]. In this approach, the power of additive noise is initially set large for the fast convergence of the secondary-path modeling filter and is subsequently reduced to a small value.…”

“…Up to the best knowledge of authors, the other researchers have considered online FBPM [11][12][13][14][15][16][17]a n dS P M [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]a s separate problems, and there is no work considering simultaneous adaptation ofF(z)a n dŜ(z). Here we present a few typical results for the proposed method for simultaneous online FBPM and SMP, and a detailed treatment is beyond the scope of the present work.…”
