No 23 OCCUPATIONAL EYE INJURIES IN ISRAEL (NATIONAL STUDY)

Abstract

A nation wide study of all hospitalized eye injuries during three years revealed that 29.2% of the injuries happened at work. The unskilled workers and the workers of the building trade were most susceptible to ocular injuries. The industrial workers especially the locksmiths and carvers suffered from perforating injuries. Means of prevention and restoration are discussed.Participating researchers:A nation wide study of hospitalised civilian eye injuries in Israel was performed. The duration of the study was three years. Causes, incidence and kind of injury in relation to age, sex, place and type of work were evaluated. 49.1% of the injuries were in children.
