Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium data for the binary mixture of pentafluoroethane (HFC-125) + propane (HC-290 or R-290) at six temperatures between (268.15 and 313.15) K were measured by using a circulation-type equilibrium apparatus. The experimental data were correlated with the CarnahanStarling-De Santis equation of state (EOS) and the Peng-Robinson EOS using the Wong-Sandler mixing rules. It was confirmed that the data calculated by these EOSs have good agreement with experimental data. In this system, strong positive azeotropic behaviors were observed over the whole temperature range studied here.

The experiments were carried out using a circulation-type equilibrium apparatus with the measurement of temperature, pressure, and the compositions of the liquid and vapor phases. The experimental data were correlated with the Peng-Robinson equation of state using the Wong and Sandler mixing rules and the CarnahanStarling-Desantis equation of state. Calculated results with these equations showed good agreement with the experimental data, but the Peng-Robinson equation of state gave more accurate calculations for the binary systems. It was found that this system has a very strong positive azeotrope for all the temperature range studied here.

Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibria for the binary mixtures of trifluoromethane (R-23) + 1,1-difluoroethane (HFC-152a) and trifluoromethane + 1,1,1-trifluoroethane (HFC-143a) were measured at 283.15 and 293.15 K. The experiments were carried out with a circulation-type equilibrium apparatus with the measurement of temperature, pressure, and the compositions of the liquid and vapor phases. The experimental data were correlated with the Peng-Robinson equation of state using the Wong and Sandler mixing rules and the Carnahan-Starling-Desantis (CSD) equation of state. Calculated results with these equations showed good agreement with the experimental data, but the Peng-Robinson equation of state gave more accurate predictions for the binary systems. Azeotropic behavior has not been found in either of these mixtures.
