Nitrogen/Sulfur Co‐Doped Carbon Dots for Enhancing Anti‐Corrosion Performance of Mg Alloy in NaCl Solution

Abstract: To reduce the corrosion of Mg alloy, an environment-friendly Nitrogen/Sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N/S-CDs) was prepared using thiourea and 4-amino salicylic acid as precursors. The corrosion inhibition behavior of N/S-CDs for Mg alloy in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution was systematically investigated by electrochemical measurements. The results shown that N/S-CDs could suppress the corrosion of Mg alloy and the inhibition efficiency reached 86.6 % at 50 mg L À 1 . The low energy gap (0.156 eV) and high dipole moment (… Show more

“…in 2004, during the synthesis and purification of single‐walled carbon nanotubes, has attracted much interest during the last two decades [1] . The CDot structure with a spherical carbon core surrounded by various chemical functional groups and size below 10 nm [1–2] has aroused interest as a fluorophore in a multitude of applications, including optoelectronics, [2b] energy conversion/storage, [3] bioimaging, [4] sensing, [5] anti‐counterfeiting, [6] anti‐corrosion, [7] etc. Currently, research to improve the material properties of CDot by varying solvents, synthesis conditions, dopants, and fluorescence enhancement occupies a crucial pursuit [1] .…”
