Nitrogen fertilization compensation the weak photosynthesis of Oilseed rape (Brassca napus L.) under haze weather

Abstract: Haze and cloudy weather reduce photo-synthetically active radiation (PAR), which affects the formation of crop yield and nitrogen (N) fertilizer utilization.. We conducted field trails in normal year and severe winter haze year, aiming to compare the difference of photosynthesis and N uptake in winter rapeseed under different N levels. Daily sunshine hours and averaged radiation intensity in winter haze year decreased by 54.1% and 33.3% respectively as compared with the past 30 years. Diurnal variation of net … Show more

“…Hence, N2-fertilizer (30 kg/667 m 2 ) was identified as the optimization nitrogen fertilization for lotus growth and development. In addition, compared with CK, the total starch, amylose, amylopectin, and plot yield under N-fertilizer significantly increased (Figure 3), which was consistent with previous research that the application of nitrogen fertilizer could improve crop yield [47][48][49].…”

“…Our results showed that the cumulative sunshine hours parameter positively affected yield (Figure 3C) but decreased in most planting areas during 2008-2019 (Table 2). The overwintering period is critical for the growth of winter rapeseed, and winter haze and cloudy conditions reduce the intensity and stability of radiation, leading to a decrease in the photosynthetic productivity of winter rapeseed during vegetative growth (Cong et al, 2020). We also found that the UYR had the least cumulative sunshine hours and the lowest rapeseed yield compared with the other three planting zones (Table 1).…”

“…Basumatary et al (2015) reported similar results in a field study on ricerice cropping sequence in Inceptisols. Moreover, straw incorporation could improve the crop N and K nutrition, beneficial for photosynthesis and is helpful in minimizing the effects caused by climate change (Cong et al 2020). The wide variability in crop yield and soil nutrient status in both strips are the basic parameters needed for establishing site-specific target yield-based prescription equations of wheat crops.…”
