RESUMOInibidor de urease (NBPT) e a eficiência da ureia aplicada em dose única ou parcelada na cultura do trigo O NBPT (N-(n-butil) tiofosfórico triamida) é uma substância inibidora da urease, que se vem apresentando como das mais promissoras para a maximização do uso do nitrogênio da ureia em sistemas agrícolas. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o desempenho produtivo do trigo irrigado, submetido à fertilização com ureia ou ureia+NBPT aplicadas em dose única ou parcelada. O experimento foi conduzido, de junho a outubro de 2006, em Viçosa-MG, Brasil. Seguiu-se o esquema fatorial 2×2, em que a ureia ou ureia+NBPT foram combinadas com duas formas de aplicação: dose total na semeadura (60kg ha -1 ) ou parcelada (20kg ha -1 na semeadura + 40kg ha -1 , em cobertura, no perfilhamento). O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso com dez repetições. Conclui-se que o parcelamento da fertilização nitrogenada não promove incremento de produtividade do trigo, sob as condições de cultivo empregadas; o uso de inibidor de urease aumenta a produtividade da cultura do trigo, quando a ureia é aplicada, em cobertura, durante o perfilhamento, mas, seu uso não promove aumento da produtividade quando a ureia é aplicada no sulco, durante a semeadura. Received: 20/09/2012; Approved:20/02/2014 Urease inhibitor (NBPT) and efficiency of single or split application of urea in wheat crop 1 NBPT (N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide), a urease inhibitor, has been reported as one of the most promising compounds to maximize urea nitrogen use in agricultural systems. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of irrigated wheat fertilized with urea or urea + NBPT as single or split application. The experiment was conducted from June to October 2006 in Viçosa, MG, Brazil. The experimental design followed a 2×2 factorial scheme, in which urea or urea + NBPT were combined with two modes of application: full dose at sowing (60kg ha -1 ) or split (20kg ha -1 at sowing + 40kg ha -1 as topdressing at tillering), in randomized blocks with ten replications. The split application of nitrogen fertilization does not improve the yield wheat under used conditions. The use of urease inhibitor improves the grain yield of wheat crop when urea is applied in topdressing at tillering, but its use does not promote difference when urea is applied in the furrow at planting.

A 3-year field experiment was carried out in southern Italy to evaluate the effect of different combinations of nitrogen (N) fertiliser rates (0, 55, 90, 135 kg ha -1 ), time of application (sowing, tillering, stem elongation) and number of nitrogen applications on durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L., var. durum). A total of eight different combinations -in terms of quantity and time of application -were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Soil plant analysis development was analysed along with leaf area index, grain and straw yield, plant height, plant lodging, thousand-kernel weight, non-vitreous kernels, shrunken and discarded kernels, hectolitre weight, grain protein content, and sodium dodecylsulfate sedimentation. Nitrogen contents of soil, grain and straw were measured in order to assess nitrogen efficiency. The results showed the positive effect of increased nitrogen dosages of 90 and 135 kg ha -1 . The optimisation of nitrogen administration increased by splitting the nitrogen into three application times, as shown by the eco-physiological, productive and qualitative parameters, and the nitrogen efficiency parameters measured (N application efficiency and N recovery fraction).

Preplant nitrogen (N) application, which involves placing nutrients in the soil before seeding, has been an integral part of crop production systems for decades. Some producers are known to apply N at least 21 d before planting. This may increase N loss and lower grain yield. This study evaluated the effect of timing and rate of N application on winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grain yield and N use efficiency (NUE). An experiment with a factorial arrangement of treatments was set up in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments included four N rates (0, 45, 90, and 135 kg ha–1) with each applied 7 or 30 d before planting, and at Feekes 5 (FK5). Grain N was analyzed using LECO CN dry combustion analyzer. The difference method [Grain N from (fertilized plot – check plot)]/N applied was used to compute NUE. Nitrogen application rate significantly affected grain yield (P ≤ .01). Although the rate may be temporally and spatially variable, approximately 90 kg N ha–1 was required to obtain yields that differ markedly from the check. Mid‐season applied N (FK5) had similar yields to preplant applied N in two of four site‐years and significantly increased yield at one site in 2020. Out of two sites, the timing of N application had a substantial effect on NUE in both years (P ≤ 0.11). In this case, NUE was increased by as much as 9.5% for midseason applied N compared to 30 d before planting N application time.
