Nitrate and Nitrite Determination in Gunshot Residue Samples by Capillary Electrophoresis in Acidic Run Buffer,

Abstract: Simultaneous determination of nitrate and nitrite in gunshot residue has been conducted by capillary electrophoresis using an acidic run buffer (pH 3.5). In previously developed capillary electrophoretic methods, alkaline pH separation buffers were used where nitrite and nitrate possess similar electrophoretic mobility. In this study, the electroosmotic flow has been reversed by using low pH running buffer without any additives. As a result of reversing the electroosmotic flow, very fast analysis has been actu… Show more

“…The developed Pd-GCME was then used to detect GSR. The nitrite from the gunshot was extracted as given by Erol et al's method (Erol et al, 2017). The result obtained gave a good linear range of 0.10μmol/L-4mmol/L with LOD at 0.030 μm.…”

“…Explosion cases pose serious harm to people's lives and social order. As the most commonly used explosive, nitrous explosive will produce nitrite (NO 2 − ) after the explosion [1] . According to the Locard material exchange principle, the explosives or their residues left in the hands of criminals will be reflected in the latent fingerprints in explosion cases.…”
