“…Various epidemiologic studies suggest that lifestyle factors such as alcohol consumption, ultraviolet exposure, cigarette smoking and high carbohydrate diets are related to cataractogenesis. In addition, cataracts have been associated with many systemic diseases mainly diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, chronic kidney disease and autoimmune disease [26][27][28][29][30][31][32].
