This article aims to explore the relevance of Teuku Umar’s leadership with the concept of Islamic leadership played by the Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the great leader of Muslims. The article was written by studying in-depth the history of Teuku Umar from various existing literature and synthesizing the values of leadership based on the history of his struggle. Then observe its relevance to Islamic leadership based on the sources of the Holy Qur’an, Sunnah, and the life history of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). The results conclude that the Teuku Umar leadership concept that has been proposed is very relevant to Islamic teachings. This was greatly influenced by the figure of Teuku Umar, who lived under the Islamic Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam from childhood until the end of his life. Teuku Umar was a Muslim like the majority of the people of Aceh at that time.

Sharia banks typically have two primary objectives: commercial and social. To fulfill their commercial mission, sharia banks must generate profits as it is one of the most important metrics used to evaluate long-term competitiveness and ensure their operational sustainability. This paper intends to delve deeper into the impact of intellectual capital dimensions on the profitability ratio of Sharia banking. Using panel data from 34 companies from 2015 to 2019, this study distinguished between fixed and random effects using the Hausman test. The Return on Assets (RoA) is then utilized as a proxy for the profitability ratio. Utilizing samples of sharia banking institutions from OIC countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, we found a positive relationship between intellectual capital dimensions and the profitability ratio. Human capital and structural capital have a partial impact on profitability, while relational capital has no influence on the profitability of sharia banks in OIC-member countries.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Dimensi Modal Intelektual dan Profitabilitas Bank Syariah di Negara-negara OKI. Bank syariah umumnya memiliki dua tujuan utama, yaitu komersial dan sosial. Untuk menjalankan misi komersialnya, bank syariah perlu menghasilkan laba yang merupakan salah satu indikator kunci yang digunakan untuk menilai daya saing jangka panjang dan memastikan keberlanjutan operasionalnya. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menggali lebih dalam pengaruh dimensi modal intelektual terhadap rasio profitabilitas bank syariah. Dengan menggunakan data panel dari 34 perusahaan mulai tahun 2015 hingga 2019, penelitian ini menggunakan uji Hausman untuk membedakan efek tetap dan efek acak. Return on Asset (RoA) digunakan sebagai proksi untuk rasio profitabilitas. Adapun sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah bank syariah dari negara-negara anggota OKI seperti Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, dan Pakistan. Temuan kami mengungkapkan bahwa secara statistik terdapat pengaruh positif signifikan antara dimensi modal intelektual dengan rasio profitabilitas. Dikaji secara parsial, hanya modal manusia dan modal struktural yang berpengaruh, sedangkan modal relasional tidak berpengaruh terhadap profitabilitas bank syariah di negara-negara anggota OKI tersebut.

This study examines the effect of Islamic intellectual capital that consists of Structural Capital, Human Capital, and Capital Employed on takaful financial performance in Southeast Asia and the Middle East during 2016-2019. The dependent variable, takaful financial performance, is measured from the firm's ROE. The independent variables in the current study are the Human Capital Efficiency (HCE), Structural Capital Efficiency (SCE), and Capital Employed Efficiency (CEE), and Audit Opinion used as a control variable. This study is a descriptive quantitative research using multiple linear regression analysis. The population of this study is the sharia insurance firms in Southeast Asia and Middle East countries with a total of 155 observations. This study shows that, two out of three variables are significant. Structural Capital Efficiency has a positive and significant effect, Capital Employed Efficiency has a negative and significant impact, and the Human Capital Efficiency has no significant effect on takaful financial performance. This study can be used as a reference, evaluation, and source of improvement for sharia insurance firms in optimizing the Islamic intellectual capital to improve the firm's financial performance. To achieve this objective, companies could improve employees' knowledge on sharia regulations, especially regarding sharia insurance, training, fulfilling employee's rights, improving system quality, services, and transaction procedures.
