“…At the OCP condition, the appearance of Ni II ‐OH vibration at 475 cm −1 suggested the generation of Ni(OH) 2 at the surface of Au@NiS x . This observation was in agreement with the findings from Huang et al., [ 82 ] in which the conversion from Ni 3 S 2 to Ni(OH) 2 during HER under alkaline conditions has been validated by theoretical simulation and in situ Raman analysis. Interestingly, as the HER proceeded, the Ni II ‐OH vibration band gradually vanished, indicating the further composition transformation from Ni 2+ to metallic Ni under such cathodic conditions.…”

“…The high-resolution Ni 2p spectrum of Ni 3 S 2 /NF (Figure b) displays two main peaks of 873.90 and 856.10 eV, which belong to Ni 2p 1/2 and Ni 2p 3/2 . Alongside are the corresponding satellite peaks (879.80 and 861.50 eV) . In addition, the two peaks present at 870.50 and 853.15 eV belong to Ni 0 since we use NF as the substrate .…”

“…On the other hand, a comparatively smaller cohesive energy of Cu (336 kJ mol −1 ), in comparison with that of Pt (546 kJ mol −1 ), indicated the much easier surface‐atom mobility when the surface strongly adsorbed reaction intermediates [52] . Therefore, particular attentions should be paid onto the dynamic evolution and the corresponding control of the surface roughness of Cu electrodes in future research [53] …”

“…[52] Therefore, particular attentions should be paid onto the dynamic evolution and the corresponding control of the surface roughness of Cu electrodes in future research. [53] In a further set of experiments, the scope of this reductive coupling process was investigated. We examined the efficacy of p-Cu and r-CuÀ I electrodes because they have demonstrated the best performance for nitrones and imines, respectively.…”
