Nickel sorption from solutions with high salt concentration

Abstract: The object of the study is salt concentrates formed as a result of treatment of concentrated acidic and alkaline wastewater of galvanic processes, realized on Ural Optical & Mechanical Plant (Russia). Salt concentrates are to be disposed of as low-hazard substances, but periodically the presence of nickel ions in them was detected. Concentration of nickel ions reaches up to 0.3 g/L, the total salt content reaches 200 g/L. The possibility of sorption purification of salt concentrates from nickel on the amin… Show more

“…Generally, unmodified sorbents have higher thermal stability (above 300 °C) than modified sorbents (below 250 °C). Comparison with the literature data [ 25 ] showed that the obtained sorbents had a higher thermal resistance than previously obtained by us modified VBC and VBBr copolymers with substituents K4.10, K3.10, Ox3.10, and Ox4.10, as well as the commercial Lewatit TP 207 [ 38 ] or Amberlyst 15 [ 39 ] resin. Additionally, the VBC copolymer was characterized by higher thermal stability (T onset = 382 °C) than VBBr copolymer (T onset = 336 °C), by about 50 °C.…”
