In this QCD analysis, we investigate the impact of recent measurements of heavy-flavor charm and beauty cross sections data sets on the simultaneous determination of Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) and the strong coupling, α s (M 2 Z ). We perform three different fits based on Variable-Flavour Number Scheme (VFNS) at the Leading Order (LO) and Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) and choose the full HERA run I and II combined data as a new measurement of inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) cross sections for our base data set. We show that including charm and beauty cross sections data reduces the uncertainty of gluon distribution and improves the fit quality up to 4.1% from leading order to next-to-leading order and up to 1.7% for only NLO without and with beauty and charm data contributions.

Recent measurements of top quark pair production cross section, which is performed at the LHC and the Tevatron collider, are studied using Hessian profiling technique to obtain their impact on the parton distribution functions (PDFs). The top quark production data covers different centerof-mass energies √ s= 1.96, 5.02, 7, 8 and 13 TeV in either pp or pp collisions. It is explained how the Hessian profiling method may be used to assess the impact of these new data on PDFs and consequently on their predictions. In this research, the impact of recent measurements of top quark pair cross sections on different CT14, MMHT2014, and NNPDF3.0 PDF sets is investigated. The analysis results show that the recent top quark production at the LHC and Tevatron data provide significant constraints in particular on the central value, relative uncertainties or both for the squark distribution and the gluon PDFs in both of CT14, MMHT2014 PDF sets and are insensitive to valence-quark PDFs. A small constraint on theū-sea quark distribution for CT14 PDF is also observed. There is no impact on the NNPDF3.0 PDF set in presence of these data.

Charm-quark pole mass from HERA Combined and LHCb charm production data

Because of color confinement hypothesis, which states that colored objects are always confined to color singlet states, there are several definitions for charm-quark mass, which one of the most popular definition is charm-quark pole mass m pole c . This Quantum Chromo Dynamics (QCD) analysis attempts to extract charm-quark pole mass from H1-ZEUS combined (H1Z), LHCb and H1Z+LHCb charm production cross section data and then investigate its pure impact on proton Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs). To reach this goal we makes several fits based on the very recently updated Fixed Flavor number scheme from Alekhin, Blumlein and Moch (FF ABM) at the Next-to-Leading Order (NLO). We show that the pure contribution of charm-quark pole mass in the improvement of the fit quality, when it is considered as an extra fit parameter in perturbative Quantum Chromo Dynamics (pQCD) level is ∼ 0 % , ∼ 25 % and ∼ 21 % corresponding to H1-ZEUS combined, LHCb and H1Z+LHCb charm production cross section data, respectively.
