“…I defined "academic entrepreneurialism" in such a way that academia -in the face of the new reality which incorporates neoliberalism into academic life -adopts and self-initiates entrepreneurial changes, including pro-competition policies for resources distribution, diversifying and expanding funding sources, enhancing the managerial capacity of academic administrators, embracing market-like and commercial activities on campuses and establishing developmental outreach centres which link the academia with the economies, societies and communities outside of it. The adaptation to the new reality gives rise to the emergence and intensification of entrepreneurial practices and entrepreneurial culture which were not commonplace in academia prior to the entrepreneurialism trend (Sharif and Tang, 2014).
