New three-phase polymer-ceramic composite materials for miniaturized microwave antennas

Abstract: Unique polymer-ceramic composites for microwave antenna applications were prepared via melt extrusion using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as the matrix and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) coated BaO–Nd2O3–TiO2 (BNT) ceramic-powders as the filler. By incorporating LDPE into the composites via a coating route, high ceramic-powder volume content (up to 50 vol%) could be achieved. The composites exhibited good microwave dielectric and thermomechanical behaviors. As BNT ceramic content increased from 10 vol% to … Show more

“…This agglomeration increased in 4Bi-blend film. These clusters dispersed throughout the film's surface, suggesting proper polymer-particle interactions; the organicinorganic components in the polymer composites are compatible [34]. Thus, the hybrid film's surface roughness rises as the concentration of Bi-metal increases.…”

“…Polymer matrix composites have attracted wide attention from researchers because of their relatively simple production process and low cost [ 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 ]. PDMS is a kind of flexible organic nonmetallic polymer which is insoluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents, has high transparency, good chemical inertia, good thermal stability, is homogeneous and is easy to operate.…”

“…Here, we also discuss the spectroscopic, microstructural, and dielectric properties of LT-PTFE composites and how these properties are affected by the addition of EDTA. Microwave dielectric materials with permittivity between 5 and 15 are suitable for the fabrication of miniaturized antennas with good data transfer rate . A 0.7LT-0.3PTFE-5EDTA composite with appropriate thermal and dielectric properties was selected to design and fabricate a cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) for Ku-band applications.…”
