Deep-directional-resistivity (DDR) logging-while-drilling (LWD) technology has gained acceptance as an efficient method for horizontal well landing, geosteering, and reservoir and fluidcontact mapping. The largest part of the value lies in the automatic inversion of the measurements, improving the detection of geologic and fluid boundaries within a radius of investigation of more than 30 m around the wellbore in real time. The tool and its sensors were designed to acquire a data set with sensitivity to a number of formation properties ensuring the concurrent deployment of a robust inversion. Based on this, an inversion method implemented on computer clusters statistically samples (or explores) the multidimensional inversion space, returning the distribution of formation models that fit the available data. The most noticeable aspect to operators is that this is done without introducing bias. There is no need to commit to a number of layers or to the position, thickness, resistivity, or dip of the layers to generate the continuous images on which all DDR interpretation is based, which translates into several theoretical and practical advantages. In practice, this gives users a higher level of quality control and more confidence in interpreting the subsurface within a larger diameter around the wellbore, which is useful for integrating the information into a geomodel. This derisks current and future operation, improves real-time and planning decisions, and ultimately drives better well placement, completion, production, and return on investment.

Показаны примеры использования интерпретационной базы высокочастотных электромагнитных зондирований применительно к задачам каротажа на разных этапах строительства нефтегазовых скважин. С помощью электромагнитного каротажа в процессе шаблонирования вертикальных скважин решаются задачи расчленения геологического разреза и определения пространственного распределения удельного электрического сопротивления. Полученная геоэлектрическая модель изучаемого объекта является достоверной априорной информацией для последующей геонавигации при проводке наклонных и горизонтальных стволов. На основе алгоритмов численного анализа электромагнитных полей в слоисто-однородных средах создан комплекс программ обработки и количественной интерпретации данных электромагнитного каротажа в процессе шаблонирования и бурения. Комплекс позволяет в масштабе реального времени достоверно определять геоэлектрические параметры флюидонасыщенных пластовколлекторов, вскрытых скважинами сложной траектории, и оценивать их погрешности с учетом фактических метрологических характеристик. Электромагнитные каротажные зондирования, каротаж в процессе бурения, геонавигация, геоэлектрическая модель, удельное электрическое сопротивление.

The relatively recent development of azimuthal resistivity measurements enables proactive geosteering within complex reservoirs. These successful tools are the major contributor to the substantial expansion of horizontal drilling. The tools enable determining the distance (up to 5 m in ideal conditions) and the azimuthal direction to a resistivity boundary. In ideal conditions, the well is inside a high resistivity layer and the shoulder bed is low resistivity, giving geologists warning of approaching adjacent conductive beds. When the tool is in a low resistivity layer, the depth of detection of an adjacent high resistivity layer is much smaller. In these situations, it is often not possible to use the tool for effective geosteering. An extra-deep resistivity tool has been used for several years in Norway and has been introduced in the Peregrino Field in Brazil. It operates at lower frequencies, has large transmitter-receiver spacings and a depth of detection up to 25 m. This tool was deployed in addition to the conventional directional resistivity instrument. The new application in Brazil was supported by inversion software (still in development) to enable possible interpretation of the geology within the tool range. The inversion results provide information that can help identify adjacent reservoir layers while in the target zone and measure the thickness of the reservoir layer being drilled. Examples are presented from one well where the extra-deep resistivity provided early warnings and additional information that helped to steer the well successfully and maximize reservoir coverage. The extra-deep measurements from the tool also provide valuable reservoir understanding and knowledge for future well planning purposes.
