Facial wrinkles are visible indicators of normal aging process, which could be seen on the skin's surface in the form of faint lines, thin creases, or deep grooves. On the forehead area, they appear in horizontal lines between eyebrows and hairline, which lead to the appearance of some negative emotions, such as stress, fatigue, and anxiety looking. These made forehead rhytides the major concern for patients as aging occurs. As the body ages, skin cell division slows down, the dermis layer begins to thin, and the fat cells beneath the dermis start to shrivel. The elastin, collagen, and fibroblasts are the main tissues providing underlying support for skin, and as the age increases, the number of the supporting tissue is gradually lost and disorganized, which made wrinkles come out. 1,2 In Lapiere's study, the loss of dermal matrix volume may also contribute to the forehead rhytides. 3 These changes in histology decreased the skin elasticity, and years of repeated pull on the skin by the underlying frontalis muscles contraction intensify the wrinkles. 4 There are many methods for static forehead rhytides correction, such as surgery, botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) injection, soft tissue filler injection, and polydioxanone(PDO) sutures. 5,6 BTX-A combined with hyaluronic acid (HA) was widely used in clinical practice to correct the static forehead lines, because BTX-A could reduce repetitive muscle contraction and HA acts as soft tissue filler and subcutaneous collagen and matrix material.
